Workshops: Making a Snow Snake

Join the Atowi Project for a snow snake building workshop, in preparation for the upcoming snow snake competition at Retreat Farm on February 27! Snow snake is a traditional game played by Abenaki and other tribal nations where snow is prevalent in their homeland. The game consists of players throwing their wooden snow snakes, underhand, down a track.

Materials and instruction are provided - there is no cost to join, but workshop size is limited to 8 participants per session. Pre-registration is required through Retreat Farm at this link. Power tools will be utilized during the 3 hour workshop. Masks will be required, per facility public health protocols. Participants will keep their snow snake upon completion and are invited to the snow snake games on February 27. Dress warmly! Those that do not attend this workshop can still attend the main event and snow snakes will be provided.
